The students in my culture class (Culturas Latinoamericanas) had to do a presentation and short expository paper here at the end of the semester on Latino culture(s) in the United States. One of my students, Ivy Ricks, decided that she wanted to interview several of her Latino/a friends here at Berry about questions of culture and identity. Her interviews were informed by what we did in Culturas for this chapter, the story “In Between” by Mirta Toledo and the poem “Bilingual Blues” by Gustavo Pérez Firmat. Here is an excerpt from one of her interviews. Well done!
