Today I was wrapping up my morning class, gathering my notes and chatting with a student about the reading that we covered. Students for the next class were already taking their seats in the room. I couldn’t help but to overhear one of them: “I can’t wait until the semester is over. I
hate this class.” Yikes. The professor who teaches that course is a friend, a kind and devoted professor who has won teaching awards and such. To be sure, the comment probably says more about the student than it does the professor, but it’s horrible to hear such a thing. I think that this comment has hung over me all day.
