First day

My first class starts in a few minutes.  The first day always feels like a tournament to me.  Nerves.  Performance.  Room full of judges.  Sore throat at the end.  I love the first day.  There is also something very pressing about it.  There is so much that competes for what must be a limited amount of the students’ attention and loyalties.  I have about a week, maybe two to make my case.

“15 minutes!”  Feels like a prep room.  I’m going off-card today (finally!).

This is the website for my Latin American poetry class.  Very basic.  Nothing to show off.  Just thought I’d show you what I’m doing (with limited time on the website).

Berry’s website posted a story about the Costa Rica program today.  I’ll be taking the group again next year and am planning for the class project to involve video.

Martha and Ivy aren’t quite done… technical and editorial difficulties.  But their projects will be up soon.

Lauren’s last word is a profile of the teacher she worked with.  They became best buds. The title, “Latino por dentro, Tico de corazón,” is based on the lyrics of a song.
